Iran to increase Iron Ore production capability

Crude Iron Ore production capacity of Iran is all set to increase by the end of the current Iranian year to 1000 million tons per year from 75 million tons per year.

TEHRAN (Scrap Register): Crude Iron Ore production capacity of Iran is all set to increase by the end of the current Iranian year to 1000 million tons per year from 75 million tons per year, as per the state mines and metal holding company Imidro.

"The country's iron ore pellet making capacity is 31 million tons per year now, but this capacity will be increased to 45 million tons per year by the end of the current Iranian year," Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh quoted.

The 46.5 million tons capacity of concentrated iron ore was planned to increase to 55 million tons per year and DRI production capacity was planned to be increased to 34.5 million tons per year from 30 million ton per year.

From the Sangan deposits about 22.5 million tons per year of Iron ore concentrates and 17.5 million tons per year of pellets was planned to be produced but plan of steel making was dropped on the back water shortage in this area.
