Profit at aluminum smelters in China continued rising and their costs will fall in the future, SMM noted.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 7 (SMM) – Profit at aluminum smelters in China continued rising and their costs will fall in the future, SMM noted.

China to Forbid Coal-Fired Captive Power Plant Construction in Many Regions

Rising aluminum prices have expanded the average profit further to above 1,300 yuan/tonne at smelters, SMM statistics showed.

SMM Data: China Aluminum Output Jumps in July

Steadily rising prebaked anode prices added to aluminum costs slightly. However, aluminum costs will drop in the short term since alumina prices are at risks of further decline from aluminum capacity cuts.
