Coal imports from Russian surged over 5.6-fold on a yearly basis to 735,000 tonnes in the first half of 2017, according to Manzhouli Customs.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 4 (SMM) - Coal imports from Russian surged over 5.6-fold on a yearly basis to 735,000 tonnes in the first half of 2017, according to Manzhouli Customs.

China Shenhua hikes August Coal Price, Having Held off Spot Sales for 3 Months

These shipments are worth 230 million yuan. Russian coal is attractive for Chinese buyers due to high calorific value and low impurity content.

Over 90% of these imports were made under general trade.
