SHFE 1801 nickel opened at RMB 84,800/mt today and rose to RMB 85,860/mt.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 3 (SMM) – SHFE 1801 nickel opened at RMB 84,800/mt today and rose to RMB 85,860/mt. In the afternoon, SHFE 1709 nickel inched down and closed at RMB 84,050/mt, up RMB 200/mt or 0.24%. Trading volumes on SHFE 1801 nickel increased 135,000 to 348,000, and positions increased 20,200 to 323,000. US June factory orders and the number of initial jobless claims last week will be released this evening.

Nickel Prices Drop: SMM 10-12% High-Grade NPI Down 17.2 Yuan, Indonesia NPI FOB Index Falls 2.06 $/mtu

[SMM Nickel Flash] The SMM average price of 10-12% high-grade NPI fell 17.2 yuan/mtu WoW to 1,035.8 yuan/mtu (ex-factory, tax included), while the Indonesia NPI FOB index average price dropped 2.06 $/mtu WoW to 131.2 $/mtu. At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
