WBMS: Global Copper Demand Outstrips Supply in January-May 2017

Global copper market saw supply deficit at 65,000 tonnes in January-May 2017, reported by World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS).

SHANGHAI, Jul. 20 (SMM) – Global copper market saw supply deficit at 65,000 tonnes in January-May 2017, compared to 69,000 tonnes of deficit in 2016, reported by World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS).

Copper inventory grew 125,000 tonnes as of late May 2017 from the level seen in late December 2016.

Rio Tinto Copper Concentrate Output Dives Remarkably in H1 2017

Global copper ore output totaled 8.3 million tonnes in the first five months of 2017, down 0.7% YoY, and that of copper cathode expanded 0.4% YoY to 9.61 million tonnes at the same period.
