SHANGHAI, Jul. 14 (SMM) – Ignition battery replacement demand grew sharply recently due to high temperature.

Inventories at ignition battery distributors were around one month, with few exceeding one month, but those decreased to around 15 days for now, SMM learns. Some battery types even reported supply shortage. Distributors thus planned to build stocks.

However, orders at battery producers saw no significant improvement as falling lead prices raised distributors’ purchase caution, despite of improving end-user demand.

Orders at battery producers will increase from mid and late July in anticipation of stock-building demand from distributors, SMM expects.
