US Steel shipments up by 3.1 percent m/m during May

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States steel mills have shipped 7,660,969 net tons of steel during the month of May this year, an increase of 3.1 percent from the 7,428,080 net tons shipped in April, according to American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

United States steel mills imports figures in May, nearly unchanged from the 7,661,979 net tons shipped in May 2016. Shipments year-to-date in 2017 are 37,722,240 net tons, a 3.3 percent increase vs. 2016 shipments of 36,509,450 net tons for five months.

A comparison of May shipments to the previous month of April shows the following changes: hot rolled sheets, up 4 percent, cold rolled sheets, up 3 percent and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, no change.
