China Aluminum Stocks Grow Sharply, SMM Says

BYD’s passenger vehicle sales reached 187,782 units in February, down about 8.6% MoM from January; compared with the same period in 2025, they fell 41% YoY. Based on January sales performance, BYD’s passenger vehicle sales in the first two months of the year both declined MoM and YoY, which is uncommon and also indirectly indicates that rapid changes in market competition have put some pressure on BYD. In addition, it is worth noting that the sales figures released by BYD include exports; in February this year, its overseas exports of new energy vehicles were as high as 100,600 units. Based on this, BYD’s domestic monthly sales of new energy vehicles are expected to fall below 100,000 units.

Within Guangdong Province’s metal packaging industry landscape, Foshan, Huizhou, and Dongguan stand out as major metal packaging industry clusters in Guangdong and even nationwide. Foshan has 113 metal packaging enterprises, accounting for 19.65 of the province’s total; Huizhou has 99, accounting for 17.22; and Dongguan has 85, accounting for 14.78. These cities have a strong manufacturing base, with very large-scale production of food and beverages, daily chemical products, and industrial goods, and robust consumer market demand. Multiple factors together have made these areas key hubs for the concentration of metal packaging enterprises.

Across China, Guangdong Province has the largest number of metal packaging enterprises, with a total of 575 enterprises, accounting for 16.52 of the national total. An examination of the intra-provincial distribution shows that metal packaging enterprises exhibit a pronounced pattern of regional clustering, with significant disparities among different prefecture-level cities. This indirectly reflects differences across regions within Guangdong in terms of industrial foundations, manufacturing scale, and the level of consumer market development.
