SHANGHAI, Jul. 3 (SMM) – Rising coal prices will add to power costs at aluminum smelters in China that have captive power plants, SMM understands.
The Bohai-Rim Steam-Coal Price Index rose for three weeks in a row, albeit at a slower pace.
The average profit held largely steady around 500 yuan/tonne at aluminum smelters surveyed by SMM in the week ending June 30. The SMM average spot aluminum price increased 26 yuan/tonne on a weekly basis to 13,702 yuan/tonne.
