US domestic Raw Steel production decreases 1.5 percent y/y

United States domestic raw steel production was 1,729,000 net tons in the week ended on June 24, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.2 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production was 1,729,000 net tons in the week ended on June 24, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.2 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

Domestic raw steel production was 1,755,000 net tons in the week ended June 24, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 75.1 percent. The current week production represents a 1.5 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year. 

Production for the week ended June 24, 2017 is down 0.6 percent from the previous week ended June 17, 2017 when production was 1,739,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.6 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through June 24, 2017 was 43,353,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.4 percent. That is up 2.3 percent from the 42,383,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.6 percent.
