SHFE 1709 nickel opened at RMB 74,490/mt today and reached RMB 74,580/mt.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 22 (SMM) – SHFE 1709 nickel opened at RMB 74,490/mt today and reached RMB 74,580/mt. In the afternoon, SHFE 1709 nickel edged down to RMB 73,630/mt and closed at RMB 73,840/mt, up RMB 100/mt or 0.14%. Trading volumes on SHFE 1709 nickel decreased 51,800 to 317,000, and positions decreased 3,960 to 513,000. The number of US initial jobless claims last week will be released tonight. SHFE nickel is expected to remain range-bound this evening.

[SMM Nickel Flash] The SMM average price of 10-12% high-grade NPI fell 17.2 yuan/mtu WoW to 1,035.8 yuan/mtu (ex-factory, tax included), while the Indonesia NPI FOB index average price dropped 2.06 $/mtu WoW to 131.2 $/mtu. At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
