SHFE 1709 nickel opened at RMB 72,680/mt today, and then edged down to RMB 72,090/mt, reaching RMB 73,290/mt in the midday.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 8 (SMM) – SHFE 1709 nickel opened at RMB 72,680/mt today, and then edged down to RMB 72,090/mt, reaching RMB 73,290/mt in the midday. In the afternoon, SHFE 1709 nickel followed a “V” curve, and closed at RMB 73,200/mt, down RMB 290/mt or 0.39%. Trading volumes on SHFE 1709 nickel increased 62,000 to 437,000, and positions added 3,408 to 531,000. SHFE nickel is expected to experience corrections this evening.

Nickel Prices Drop: SMM 10-12% High-Grade NPI Down 17.2 Yuan, Indonesia NPI FOB Index Falls 2.06 $/mtu

[SMM Nickel Flash] The SMM average price of 10-12% high-grade NPI fell 17.2 yuan/mtu WoW to 1,035.8 yuan/mtu (ex-factory, tax included), while the Indonesia NPI FOB index average price dropped 2.06 $/mtu WoW to 131.2 $/mtu. At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
