SHANGHAI, May. 27 (SMM) – TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) were mainly traded at 3,800-4,200 yuan per tonne (zinc content) this past week, according to SMM data. Some regions raised TCs by 50-100 yuan per tonne (zinc content).

Zinc Prices to Fall in Coming Week, SMM Foresees

TCs for imported zinc concentrate (50%) were quoted higher at $45-55 per dry metric tonne (DMT), with a few quotes reaching as high as $60-70 per dry metric tonne (DMT).

Zinc Inventories Continue Falling in China Major Markets, SMM Reports

Some zinc smelters in Hunan, Guangxi and Yunnan hiked TCs of domestic ores by 50-100 yuan per tonne (zinc content).

On the 25th, it was confirmed that the South Korean government will exempt tariffs of 3–8% on critical minerals such as lithium, graphite, and rare earth elements when domestically owned companies directly produce and import them from overseas. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has pre-announced a new regulation outlining tariff exemptions for overseas resource development projects. Under the policy, a total of 14 critical minerals—including lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, zinc, and rare earth elements such as lanthanum, cerium, neodymium, terbium, dysprosium, yttrium, and scandium—will be eligible for duty exemption when brought into the country.
