SHANGHAI, May 25 (SMM) – How Chinese NPI projects in Indonesia progress? Shanghai Metals Market gives you the latest update of major projects as of early May 2017. 

How Much Further Can Nickel Ore Fall? SMM Reports

Tsingshan Group put its four 33,000-KVA furnaces in the second stage of its phase three project in Indonesia, into operation during April-May. Currently, Tsingshan Group owns twenty 33,000-KVA RKEFs in Indonesia, with annual capacity at 150,000 tonnes (Ni content). The company is expected to put 1 million-tonne #300 stainless steel capacity on stream in Q3 this year.

Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry put its two 33,000-KVA furnaces in Indonesia into normal production, with annual capacity at 14,400 tonnes (Ni content). The company is expected to bring another four 33,000-KVA units into operation in Q3 this year. The number of furnaces to be commissioned by the company this year will be smaller than the original target of 15.

SMM expects NPI output in Indonesia to increase 75,000 tonnes (Ni content) on a yearly basis to 160,000 tonnes (Ni content) in 2017.
