SHANGHAI, May 12 (SMM) - SMM learned some small zinc oxide producers near Sanyang River, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province were required to close for a long time by government due to environmental protection, SMM understands.

There are 40-50 zinc oxide manufacturers in Yangzhou, with total capacity around 150,000 tonne per year. Tens of small zinc oxide plants whose capacities total 10,000-20,000 tonne per year were forced to close recently. But these plants had been partially suspended previously due to profit and environmental protection reasons. Their orders had shifted to neighboring producers. As such, recent shutdowns will not affect zinc oxide output significantly.

SMM reckons zinc oxide producers will continue to implement integration, which will be favorable for zinc oxide producers’ development in the long term.
