One silicon metal plant in Huaihua City, Hunan Province was ordered to shut down since it is unqualified for environmental protection requirements, SMM reported.

SHANGHAI, May 5 (SMM) - One silicon metal plant in Huaihua City, Hunan Province was ordered to shut down since it is unqualified for environmental protection requirements, SMM reported.

The plant produces #553 silicon metal. Only three silicon manufacturers in Huaihua still open.

The inspections will last until May 23. A few silicon plants plan to restart by then.
