Iron ore output at Australian Atlas mine was flat at 3.62 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2017 on a yearly basis, but the data declined 10% on a monthly basis.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 26 (SMM) – Iron ore output at Australian Atlas mine was flat at 3.62 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2017 on a yearly basis, but the data declined 10% on a monthly basis. In Q1 2017, Atlas mine delivered 3.2 million wet tonnes of iron ore, down 21% MoM and 17% MoM.

Monsoon season was attributed as the main driver to the decline both in iron ore production and shipments.

Besides, C1 cost expanded $2 MoM and $33 YoY to $36 in Q1 2017, due largely to rising transportation cost.
