SHFE Nickel Ends with Losses (2017-4-18)

SHFE 1709 nickel opened at RMB 81,100/mt and closed at RMB 80,240/mt, down RMB 840/mt or 1.04%.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 18 (SMM) – On Tuesday, SHFE 1709 nickel opened at RMB 81,100/mt. The Philippines’ President reappointed Regina Lopez as Secretary of Department of Environment & Natural Resources, simulating expectation over tight nickel ore. SHFE 1709 nickel advanced to RMB 81,480/mt. During the afternoon trading, iron ore futures price plumped 6.5% and hit the lowest in 5 months, weighing down base metals. SHFE 1709 nickel plunged to RMB 80,020/mt and closed at RMB 80,240/mt, down RMB 840/mt or 1.04%. Trading volumes fell 57,000 to 387,000 lots and positions rose 13,000 to 491,000.

SHFE 1709 nickel is expected to drop to RMB 80,000/mt on Tuesday’s night trading with negative technical indicators.
