Chinese copper scrap prices tumbled on Index on 27th March, 2017

The Chinese copper scrap prices witnessed sharp downfall on ScrapMonster Price Index  as on Monday, March 27th.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster):  The Chinese copper scrap prices witnessed sharp downfall on ScrapMonster Price Index  as on Monday, March 27th.

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices were down by CNY 800 per MT over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing too tumbled by CNY 800 per MT each.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery was down CNY 400 per MT to CNY 27,300 per MT. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery fell CNY 250 per MT to touch CNY 23,200 per MT.

Copper Transformer scrap prices dropped by CNY 100 per MT over the previous day. The price of Cu Yokes too has declined by CNY150 per MT.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap prices witnessed decline of CNY 250 per MT.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices declined by CNY 100 per MT.

Heater Cores were down by CNY 400 per MT on Monday, March 27th.

Meantime, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices dropped by CNY 50 per MT each over the previous day.

China's Recycled Copper Raw Material Imports Edge Up Modestly in 2025 as Source Structure Undergoes Significant Shifts
According to data, China's total imports of recycled copper raw materials reached 2.34 million physical tons in 2025, up 3.96% year-on-year from 2.25 million physical tons in 2024. However, the source structure shifted markedly. Among the top five supplier countries, imports from the United States plunged 67.88% year-on-year amid ongoing China-US trade tensions, while imports from Malaysia fell 32.61% due to tightening scrap import policies. Offsetting these declines, imports from Thailand surged 88.58%, and those from Japan and South Korea rose 32.96% and 32.95% respectively, driving a continued increase in Asia's overall share of supply.
