SHANGHAI, Mar. 9 (SMM) - China’s refined tin output was 14,236 tonnes in February, down 1.5% MoM. Only some small and mid smelters closed down during 2017 Chinese New Year holiday and large smelters held online.
Output at Yunnan Tin and Yunnan Chengfeng Nonferrous Metals increased on a monthly basis and that at China-Tin Group was flat at January’s level. Output at some small and mid smelters dropped due to the holiday, poor demand and falling prices. Hence, refined tin output dropped in February month-on-month.
SMM expects refined tin output to increase 11% MoM to 15,800 tonnes in March.
Because smelters, closing down for 2017 Chinese New Year holiday, will resume output and some smelters in Jiangxi will expand capacity.
