US domestic Raw Steel production gains 3.8% to 1,760,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production gained by 3.8 percent to 1,760,000 net tons in the week ended on March 4, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.3 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production gained by 3.8 percent to 1,760,000 net tons in the week ended on March 4, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.3 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to AISI, United States domestic raw steel production was 1,695,000 net tons in the week ended March 4, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 72.5 percent. 
The production for the week ended March 4, 2017 is down 0.6 percent from the previous week ended February 25, 2017 when production was 1,770,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.7 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through March 4, 2017 was 15,596,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 73.1 percent. That is up 4.6 percent from the 14,917,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 70.9 percent.
