SHFE Nickel Closes Lower (2017-1-25)

SHFE 1705 nickel started at RMB 82,500/mt and finally closed at RMB 81,630/mt, down 0.05%.

SHANGHAI, Jan.25 (SMM) – On Wednesday, SHFE 1705 nickel started at RMB 82,500/mt and then fluctuated below the moving average. During the afternoon trading, SHEF 1705 nickel dipped to RMB 81,410/mt and finally closed at RMB 81,630/mt, down 0.05%. Trading volumes were down 19,700 to 407,000 lots and positions were up 10,500 to 718,000.

SHFE 1705 nickel will keep dropping due to shorts strengthening on Wednesday’s night trading.

[SMM Nickel Flash] The SMM average price of 10-12% high-grade NPI fell 17.2 yuan/mtu WoW to 1,035.8 yuan/mtu (ex-factory, tax included), while the Indonesia NPI FOB index average price dropped 2.06 $/mtu WoW to 131.2 $/mtu. At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
