US domestic Raw Steel production down to 1,597,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production decreased by 2% to 1,597,000 net tons in the week ended October 22 while the capability utilization rate was 67.3 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production decreased by 2% to 1,597,000 net tons in the week ended October 22 while the capability utilization rate was 67.3 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

US domestic raw steel production was 1,629,000 net tons in the week ended October 22, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 68.1 percent. 

Production for the week ended October 22, 2016 is up 0.4 percent from the previous week ended October 15, 2016 when production was 1,590,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 67.0 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through October 22, 2016 was 71,950,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 71.5 percent. That is down 1.9 percent from the 73,322,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 71.7 percent.
