NEWYORK(Scrap Register): Eliminating duties on Chinese aluminum extrusions is likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of countervailable subsidies and dumping, according to the US Department of Commerce in an sunset review. This is the first sunset review of duties that were instituted in 2011.
According to Commerce it is estimated that if the duties were lifted, the amount of dumping would justify weighted-average dumping margins of up to 33.28%.
Commerce also reasoned that the amount of net countervailable subsidies that would take place if the duties were lifted would be 12.05-374.15%, depending on the producer or exporter.
