Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong fell 5,500 to 324,700 tonnes this week, SMM data show.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 15 (SMM) - Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong fell 5,500 to 324,700 tonnes this week, SMM data show.

Zinc stocks in Guangdong grew, while those in Tianjin and Shanghai declined. Guangdong’s supplies are sufficient at present due to soft downstream consumption, SMM says.

Arriving shipments in Shanghai and Tianjin decreased as some zinc smelters reduced supplies after conducting maintenance during high temperatures. Inflows of imported zinc were also limited.

Zinc inventories in Tianjin slid due to zinc smelters undertaking maintenance and holding back goods.

Total inventories in the three regions are expected to remain steady next week amid limited arriving shipments from smelters and the off-season, SMM anticipates.
