Scrap Gold prices up, Silver and Platinum declined

The daily scrap gold prices - both hallmarked and non- hallmarked witnessed slight recovery on Friday, 13th May, 2016 on the ScrapMonster Price Index.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The daily scrap gold prices - both hallmarked  and non- hallmarked witnessed slight recovery on Friday, 13th May, 2016  on the ScrapMonster Price Index. The prices of scrap silver and Platinum declined on Index.

In the Hallmarked category, the 14 carat gold scrap prices were up by $ 3.89 per Oz. The prices of 18 carat and 22 carat gold scrap went higher by $ 4.99 and $ 6.08 per Oz respectively.9 carat gold scrap also edged higher by $ 2.49 per Oz. The price of Platinum scrap declined slightly by $7.29 per Oz from the previous day to $ 770.68 per Oz. Silver scrap price too was down by $0.12 per Oz.

In the Non-Hallmarked category, the 14 carat gold scrap prices went higher by $ 3.68 per Oz. The prices of 18 carat and 22 carat gold scrap too went up by $ 4.72 and $ 5.76 per Oz respectively.9 carat gold scrap also increased by $ 2.36 per Oz. The price of Platinum scrap dropped by $7.29 per Oz over the day. Silver scrap prices too were down by $0.11 per Oz to $ 12.48 per Oz.

Rio Tinto Secures Bell Bay Smelter Operations Through End-2031
Rio Tinto announced on October 1 that it had reached agreements with the Tasmanian Government, the Australian Commonwealth Government and Hydro Tasmania to extend electricity supply to the Bell Bay aluminium smelter through the end of 2031. The two governments will also provide a combined A$200 million support package over five years, contributing A$100 million each. Commercial terms of the power agreement were not disclosed. Bell Bay produces around 190,000 tonnes of primary aluminium annually, while its existing electricity contract was due to expire at the end of 2026. The agreement removes the smelter’s immediate operational uncertainty. Bell Bay is the third major Australian aluminium smelter to receive government-backed support in 2026, following Boyne and Tomago, highlighting continued pressure from high electricity costs and international competition.
