NEW YORK (Scrap Register): The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has recognized Stanton Moss, founder of Stanton A. Moss Incorporated in Philadelphia, with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Moss received the award for his integrity, longtime involvement in the industry, leadership, and overall commitment to ISRI.

“Stanton Moss has been a fixture in the recycling industry for nearly 50 years,” said Robin Wiener, president of ISRI. “His sincerity and commitment to the betterment of the recycling industry have been steadfast for decades. This has been evident in his involvement in a number of industry related trade associations, including serving on the board of the National Association of Recycling Industries, an ISRI predecessor. During this time, he has built a strong reputation for integrity and honesty, not only in his industry leadership roles, but through his own business operations. He leaves a lasting legacy for others to follow.”

In the 1960’s Stanton began his career at his father-in law’s company, George Sall Metals, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. During his time with George Sall Metals, Moss consistently moved up the ladder, being named general manager in 1971. After the company was liquidated in 1973 Stanton ventured off on his own, and in 1974 he started Stanton A. Moss, Inc., a nonferrous metal brokerage company specializing in aluminum.

Stanton has served on ISRI’s National Board of Directors, chaired the Non-Ferrous Division, served two terms as National Convention Chair, and frequently moderated at Roundtable and Spotlight programs. In 2001 he was awarded the Phoenix Award by the ISRI Mid-Atlantic Chapter for his years of dedication and service to the industry.

Moss and his wife Carole are the proud parents of seven and proud grandparents of fifteen. They look forward to the arrival of their first great-grandchild later this year.

The award was presented to Moss during ISRI’s annual convention and exposition in Las Vegas. It is the largest gathering of recyclers in the world. Also presented with the award this year was Emanuel Bodner of Bodner Iron & Metal Corporation.
