SHANGHAI, Mar. 18 (SMM) – TCs for Chinese 50% lead concentrate will face downward pressure in 2016 due to tightened supply, SMM predicts at 2016 Lead & Zinc Summit on March 18.
TCs for domestic concentrate will likely slide from current 2,400-2,800 yuan per tonne (Pb content) to 2,000-2,200 yuan per tonne (Pb content) this year.
Lead concentrate supply in China is scheduled to grow 20,000 tonnes this year while growth in demand will exceed 200,000 tonnes. Supply tightness will pose pressure on TCs.
World’s lead concentrate production will decrease 90,000 tonnes in 2016 and demand will also increase about 90,000 tonnes, a reflection of trend of supply tightness.
