US metals recycling company named as the world’s most ethical company

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. has been named as the ‘2016 World’s Most Ethical Company’ by the Ethisphere Institute. The award is in recognition of Schnitzer’s success in aligning principle with action and maintaining high levels of trust in business relationships.

Tamara Lundgren, Schnitzer’s President and Chief Executive Officer noted that the honor recognizes the efforts put in by individual employees and as a group. The receipt of the prestigious honor reiterates the company’s ongoing commitment to leading ethical practices. The company is one among the only two companies in the Metals & Mining Industry to receive the honor, the other being Tata Steel Limited. Also, Schnitzer is the only US metals recycling company to receive the honor. This is the second consecutive year that the company has earned the recognition.

Meantime, Timothy Erblich, Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer congratulated everyone at Schnitzer. The company has once again demonstrated exemplary leadership in areas like citizenship, integrity and transparency.
