US Silver Scrap prices decrease; Silver Futures settle lower

United States silver scrap prices decreased on Monday, while silver futures prices at New York Mercantile Exchange settled lower as the dollar rose versus the euro.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States silver scrap prices decreased on Monday, while silver futures prices at New York Mercantile Exchange settled lower as the dollar rose versus the euro.

The major silver scrap commodities on the Scrap Register Price Index traded up on Monday. The hallmarked silver scrap prices declined to $11.501 an ounce and non-hallmarked silver scrap prices gained to $10.209 an ounce.

The most active March silver contract on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange settled lower by 0.5% to $13.86 an ounce on Monday.

However, Palladium fell to its lowest since August 2010 at $477.22 an ounce, while platinum was down 4.2 per cent at $838.71 an ounce.

At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
