Little Upside Room in Sight for China Scrap Batteries and Secondary Lead

SHANGHAI, Jan. 12(SMM) – Both secondary lead and scrap battery prices are lacked in rising strength in Chinese market with both prices registering losses recently.

Secondary lead has slipped as much as 100 yuan per tonne since January 1 to now in Hebei, versus a fall of 75 yuan per tonne for scrap batteries. Sufficient supply will put a drag on scrap battery prices.

Lead-acid battery sellers hold scrap battery prices firm, secondary lead producers are more willing to cut purchase prices owing to falling profits though. Moreover, growing number of producers suspend operation because of environmental protection crackdowns. This leaves scrap battery supply ample.
