SHANGHAI, Dec. 8 (SMM) – China’s scrap lead-acid battery prices head for gains recently as scrap battery stores are reluctant to sell, Shanghai Metals Market notes.
Scrap motive batteries trade at high as 7,300 yuan per tonne in Hebei and some lead smelters suffer pressure from sourcing scrap batteries even if they lift purchase prices.
Procurement prices increase to 7,150 yuan per tonne this week from 7,000 yuan per tonne last week at Anhui Huaxin Lead Industry Group and the company now more favors scrap automobile batteries (white shell).
“Purchase prices for scrap motive batteries are up to 7,200 yuan per tonne from 7,050 yuan per tonne”, one Jiangxi-based producer said.
