US Nickel scrap exports increased 7% in September

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): The latest statistics released by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) indicates that the country’s Nickel scrap exports grew by 6.7% in September this year when compared with the previous month. Also, the average export price of nickel scrap slumped heavily upon comparison with the previous month.

The nickel scrap exports during September ‘15 totaled 2,113 tons, rising considerably by 6.7% when compared with the exports during August this year. The country’s Nickel scrap exports during Aug ’15 had totaled 1,979 tons.

Canada was the largest importer of Nickel scrap from the US. The nickel scrap exports to Sweden declined during September this year. However, exports to Canada and Japan increased considerably over the previous month.

The average export price during September ’15 witnessed substantial decline of nearly 20% over the previous month. The export prices averaged at $3,819.69 per ton during the month. The Nickel scrap export prices had averaged at $3,501.83 per ton during August this year. Meantime, LME Nickel prices recorded slight rebound during the month when compared with the previous month.
