City of San Angelo to host series of free recycling events

The San Angelo Friends of the Environment (SAFE) Recycling Center will host three recycling events during November this year.

The San Angelo Friends of the Environment (SAFE) Recycling Center will host three recycling events during November this year. The events are held in connection with the 9th Annual Texas Recycles Day.City of San Angelo to host series of free recycling events
ARLINGTON (Scrap Monster): The San Angelo, Texas-based San Angelo Friends of the Environment (SAFE) Recycling Center will conduct three recycling events during this month. The events, co-sponsored by the City of San Angelo, are being organized in connection with the 9th Annual Texas Recycles Day on November 14th.

The first of the three events will be held Friday, November 13th from 12 Noon to 5 PM in the Foster Field parking lot, 1600 University Ave. on the Angelo State University campus. The event will collect used electronics including TVs, computers, notebooks, fax machines, copiers, cell phones, scanners, printers, monitors, servers, phone systems, software, audio equipment, electric keyboards and electronic components.

The second event will be held on Saturday, November 14th from 9 AM to 4 PM at SAFE’s 702 Warehouse Road location just off of Jackson Street. Apart from electronic appliances, the event will also collect metal dishwashers, hot water heaters and microwave ovens. The event will also hold document shredding services until 12 Noon.

The third event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov 21st, in which residents are allowed to drop in hazardous household items. The recycling event will be open from 9 AM to 12 Noon. The acceptable items include acids, gasoline, diesel, brake fluids, transmission fluids, oil, oil filters, paints, thinners, pesticides, poisons, batteries, aerosol cans, propane tanks and mercury.

The SAFE Recycling Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that co-ordinates activities aimed at promoting environmentally friendly products and services. It also educates public about environmental issues by suggesting recycling alternatives to San Angelo residents.
