China Lead Concentrate TCs Stay Stable

Published: Sep 18, 2015 11:23
TCs for Chinese lead concentrate (Pb 50%) stabilized at 2,100-2,500 yuan per tonne (Pb content) this week, SMM reported.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 18 (SMM) – TCs for Chinese lead concentrate (Pb 50%) stabilized at 2,100-2,500 yuan per tonne (Pb content) this week, SMM reported.

Most mines in Tibet have resumed operation following the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Lead smelters showed little interest in buying concentrate and thus some mines reported poor sales.

TCs for domestic lead concentrate (Pb 50%) are expected to stay steady following the large growth in near future, SMM predicts.

[SMM Analysis] Why Is NPI Holding Firm While the FeNi Premium Collapses?
China’s NPI prices have remained firm despite falling production costs because freely available inventories have tightened. FeNi, meanwhile, has followed lower benchmark nickel prices and faced competition from cheaper refined nickel, compressing its premium over NPI. The divergence could reverse as Chinese output rises and Indonesian producers switch capacity back to NPI.
