According to TSI, index for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 rose $2 a ton the week to $184 a ton CFR Taiwanese port. Deals were concluded early in the week at slightly higher prices than last week.

However, mills then proceeded to drop their bids significantly in the face of the economic turmoil seen in the region the week.

Suppliers refused these latest offers, and consequently little business was done for the rest of the week.

Japanese and Korean mills were also heard to be bidding lower, whilst Taiwanese domestic demand looked fairly bleak.
