CIS crude steel output drops 9.3% in July

The crude steel output by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped over 9% during the month of July this year.

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 9.3% during the month of July year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Byelorussia dropped slightly by 0.80% during July this year to 221,000 tonnes from 223,000 tonnes in July 2014.  Kazakhstan produced 229,000 tonnes of crude steel, down significantly by 27.4% when compared to 315,000 tonnes production achieved during July last year. Moldova recorded 28,000 tonnes steel output during the month, falling considerably by 27.5% over the previous year. The total crude steel production by Russia was down by 2.8% from 6.222 Million tonnes in July 2014 to 6.048 Million tonnes this July.

There was marked decline in Ukraine’s crude steel output in July. Ukraine’s total crude steel output declined sharply by 24.1% to 1.869 Million tonnes in July 2015 when compared with the output of 2.462 Million tonnes during July last year. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output declined considerably by 7.9% during the month.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first seven months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
