SHFE 1510 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 14,680/mt Wednesday evening, then touched RMB 14,775/mt, and struggled around RMB 14,700/mt, and closed at RMB 14,715/mt, up RMB 95/mt or 0.65%.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 20 (SMM) –SHFE 1510 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 14,680/mt Wednesday evening, then touched RMB 14,775/mt, and struggled around RMB 14,700/mt, and closed at RMB 14,715/mt, up RMB 95/mt or 0.65%.

SHFE 1510 zinc contract prices touched RMB 14,805/mt on Thursday, but fell back with plunging A-share market in China, and closed at RMB 14,740/mt, up RMB 120/mt or 0.82%. Trading volumes decreased 3,352 to 92,484 lots, and total positions decreased 286 to 144,220. SHFE 1509 zinc contract prices will move sideways.

TrendForce stated that the two major wafer foundries, TSMC and Samsung Electronics, had increased prices for the most-traded advanced 5/4nm processes used for AI chips. At TSMC, capacity at the 5/4nm, 3nm, and 2nm periods will remain fully utilized, and toll processing prices for these processes have been increased across the board; meanwhile, order volumes for Samsung Foundry's 5/4nm processes also increased significantly, prompting it to issue price hike notices to clients in Q4 2025.
