76% of China’s operational aluminum capacities are losing money in terms of full costs, given an average spot price of 12,280 yuan per tonne, SMM statistics found.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 10 (SMM) –76% of China’s operational aluminum capacities are losing money in terms of full costs, given an average spot price of 12,280 yuan per tonne, SMM statistics found.

Falling aluminum prices have widened the average loss at smelters in SMM’s survey sample to 700 yuan per tonne, SMM data showed.
