[Ni Price] China Nickel Prices to Fall to 92,000-96,000 yuan on Oversupply

Spot nickel prices are expected to fall to 92,000-96,000 yuan per tonne next week on oversupply resulting from inflow of finance-driven nickel, SMM predicts.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 26 (SMM) - Spot nickel prices are expected to fall to 92,000-96,000 yuan per tonne next week on oversupply resulting from inflow of finance-driven nickel, SMM predicts.

As traders actively sold goods imported for financing use, supply in China’s nickel market has exceeded demand, forcing Jinchuan Group to cut prices offers.

“Moreover, nickel demand is expected to wane further recently due to anti-dumping actions targeting China’s stainless steel, and this will deal another blow to nickel prices,” SMM nickel analyst said.

LME nickel may also decline to $12,300-12,700 per tonne.

EGA Al Taweelah Smelter to Take Up to 12 Months to Fully Resume After Iranian Attack
[SMM Aluminum Express News] Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) estimates it will take up to 12 months to fully resume aluminium production at its Al Taweelah smelter in Abu Dhabi following the Iranian missile and drone attack. The attack caused power loss and an uncontrolled shutdown, with molten metal solidifying inside the potlines, resulting in significant damage to the smelter and casthouse. EGA CEO Abdulnasser Bin Kalban said the company is assessing the damage and will work closely with affected customers. He noted that while the smelter may take up to a year to restart, the Al Taweelah alumina refinery (2.4 million tpy) and recycling plant (185,000 tpy) could resume operations earlier.
