EU-28 crude steel output witnesses marginal rise in May

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries were up marginally by 0.7% during the month of May year-on-year.

CANTERBURY (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries were up marginally by 0.7% during the month of May year-on-year.

Germany recorded the highest output during the month of May. The country produced 3.710 Million tonnes during the month, which is lower by 5.4% when compared with the country’s output of 3.923 Million tonnes during May 2014. On a year-on-year basis, Hungary recorded the biggest jump in production. Hungarian crude steel output surged 102.6% in May ’15 over the previous year.

The lowest output was by Croatia. The total crude steel output by Croatia dropped by 21.3% from 19,000 tonnes in May 2014 to 15,000 tonnes in May this year.

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, the UK and other EU-28 region recorded increased year-on-year crude steel production. Croatia recorded the biggest decline in crude steel output in May ‘15, falling by 21.3% when compared with the previous year.

The company disclosed more than 10 CPO engagements, over 10 NPO engagements and more than five chip-to-chip connectivity projects, with anchor customers and long-term agreements secured for both CPO and NPO. Revenue is expected to begin ramping in Q4 2026. Coherent has shipped over 300 million InP lasers and is expanding its 6-inch InP manufacturing capacity to support the ramp. The customer pipeline provides a clearer commercial demand signal for InP devices and upstream materials, although additional capacity and indium consumption were not disclosed.

Nine Mile Metals announced that its second rig had arrived at Tribag–West Wedge in New Brunswick, Canada, with drilling expected to begin at Tribag in the coming days. Seven modelled electromagnetic targets are associated with the Tribag lead-zinc and West Wedge copper-lead-zinc occurrences. Wedge drilling continues in parallel. By September 21, the company had completed 18 holes totaling 4,934.50 metres of its 10,000-metre annual program. The conductors remain geophysical targets requiring drilling to establish their source.

Technical difficulties ended drilling at 259.5 metres while the hole remained within mineralized rock.
