BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asia dropped marginally by 1.8% during the month of May 2015 year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by China during May was 69.953 Million tonnes, edging lower by 1.7% when compared with the production of 71.161 Mt during May 2014. India produced 7.680 Million tonnes of crude steel, slightly up by 4.0% when compared to 7.383 Million tonnes production achieved during May last year.
Japan reported decline in monthly crude steel output during May. Japan's crude steel output dropped from 9.590 Million tonnes in May 2014 to 8.917 Million tonnes in the same month this year.
South Korean crude steel production declined marginally by 2.6% from 6.195 Million tonnes in May 2014 to 6.037 Million tonnes in May this year.
The Taiwanese May steel output edged slightly higher by 1.2% to 1.965 Million tonnes from 1.942 Million tonnes during same month last year.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first five months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
