SHANGHAI, May 25 (SMM) – Chinese lead smelters attending the 2015 SMM Lead&Zinc Summit are not optimistic about lead prices this week despite the significant increases in the past month.
Song Jie, General Manager of Anyang Minshan Nonferrous Co., expects the 2015 peak for lead at just around 14,000 yuan per tonne.
“Lead prices are unlikely to hold above 14,000 yuan for long, and should remain between 13,500-14,000 yuan in most of the year,” Wen Jianwei, Deputy General Manager of Chifeng Shanjin Silver & Lead Co. told SMM.
More smelters slide into the red this year due to depressed lead and silver prices, and strict environmental protection inspections, SMM learned.
