Nearly all galvanizers in Daqiu Village, Tianjin have been required to shut down to upgrade environmental protection facilities, Shanghai Metals Market survey finds.

SHANGHAI, May 12 (SMM) – Nearly all galvanizers in Daqiu Village, Tianjin have been required to shut down to upgrade environmental protection facilities, Shanghai Metals Market survey finds.

The closures are expected to last for 1-2 months, and this will depress zinc sales in the Tianjin market, SMM expects.

More than 30 galvanizers in the Daqiu Village, with annual capacity nearing 10 million tonnes, consume over 10,000 tonnes of zinc each month. Only 2 or 3 of local galvanizers meet environmental protection requirements.
