MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 9.6% during the month of March year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by Byelorussia surged higher by 3.0% during March this year to 232,000 tonnes from 225,000 tonnes in March 2014. Kazakhstan produced 344,000 tonnes of crude steel, up significantly by 15.1% when compared to 299,000 tonnes production achieved during March last year. Moldova recorded 20,000 tonnes steel output during the month, falling considerably over the previous year. The total crude steel production by Russia was up marginally by 0.2% from 5.978 Million tonnes in March 2014 to 5.988 Million tonnes this March.
There was marked decline in Ukraine’s crude steel output in March. Ukraine’s total crude steel output declined sharply by 35.6% to 1.696 Million tonnes in March 2015 when compared with the output of 2.635 Million tonnes during March last year. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output declined by 2.4% during the month.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first three months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
