European stainless steel makers cut alloy surcharge for April

Major stainless steel producers in Europe have announced cut in stainless steel surcharge for the month of April this year.

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): Major stainless steel producers in Europe have announced cut in stainless steel surcharge for the month of April this year. Those who announced reduction in surcharges include major producers such as Aperam, Outokumpu and Acciai Speciali Terni.
 
As per reports, Outokumpu has raised its alloy surcharge for 304 grades stainless for April by €4/ton from the month ago. After adjustments, the surcharges will average at €1,320/ton for the month. The surcharge for the product during March was €1,324/ton.  Also, its alloy surcharges for 316 grades will be reduced by €26/ton to €1,897/ton from €1,923/ton. However, the surcharge for 430 grades will be hiked by € 8/ton to €466/ton.
 
Aperam has announced marginal cut in alloy surcharges for 304 grade flat products for the month of April this year. The surcharges will be reduced from €1,283/ton by €6/ton to total €1,277/ton during Apr ’15. Similarly, the company has decided to reduce its alloy surcharge on 316 grade flat products by €9/ton from €1,844/ton in Mar ‘15. The Apr ’15 alloy surcharges will now be at €1,835/ton. The surcharges for 430 grades will be hiked by €6/ton to €447/ton.
 
Also, Acciai Speciali Terni has declared cut in alloy surcharges for 304 grade flat products by €2/ton. Terrni’s surcharge for Apr ’15 will be around €1,320/ton. The company has also decided to reduce alloy surcharges for 316 grade flat products marginally when compared with those during the month of March this year. The surcharges will be reduced from €1,920/ton by €17/ton to total €1,903/ton during Apr ’15. Meanwhile, the surcharges for 430 grades will be hiked by €9/ton to €506/ton.
 
Other stainless steel makers in the country including Acerinox and ThyssenKrupp are soon expected to follow suit.

At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
