Main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange drops to 598 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities dropped on Friday as lack of demand took a toll on rates for most of the vessel segments.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities dropped on Friday as lack of demand took a toll on rates for most of the vessel segments.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by 2 points to 598 points on Friday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
