Europe's crude steel production declined in February

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries dropped 1.8% during the month of February year-on-year.

CANTERBURY (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries dropped 1.8% during the month of February year-on-year.

The highest output during February was achieved by Germany. Germany produced 3.512 Million tonnes during the month, which is lower by 1.6% when compared with the country’s output of 3.569 Million tonnes during February 2014.

The lowest output was by Croatia. Also, the total crude steel output by Croatia declined sharply by over 50% from 20,000 tonnes in February 2014 to 10,000 tonnes in February this year. On a year-on-year basis, Croatia recorded the biggest drop in production.

Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden and other EU-28 region recorded increased year-on-year crude steel production. Greece recorded the highest growth in crude steel output in Feb ‘15, rising 82.9% when compared with the previous year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first two months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
