Utilization rate at major 46 Chinese zinc smelters fell to 74.28% in February due to the holiday factor, Shanghai Metals Market survey finds.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 10 (SMM) – Utilization rate at major 46 Chinese zinc smelters fell to 74.28% in February due to the holiday factor, Shanghai Metals Market survey finds.

Rising TCs for zinc concentrate gave a boost to production at smelters, but production halts for Chinese New Year holiday and fewer working days in February negatively affected the overall rate, according to SMM survey.

The rate at major domestic zinc smelters is expected to rise in March, SMM foresees, following production resumption from the holiday.
