US Raw Steel production rises to 1,857,000 net tons

United States raw steel production rose by 3.9% to 1,857,000 net tons in the week ended January 03 while the capability utilization rate was 77.2 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States raw steel production rose by 3.9% to 1,857,000 net tons in the week ended January 03 while the capability utilization rate was 77.2 percent, as per the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
 
According to AISI, production was 1,787,000 net tons in the week ending January 3, 2014, while the capability utilization then was 74.5 percent.
 
Production for the week ending January 2, 2015 is up 6.4 percent from the previous week ending December 27, 2014 when production was 1,746,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 72.6 percent.
 
Adjusted year-to-date production through January 3, 2015 was 1,857,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.2 percent. That is up 3.9 percent from the 1,787,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.5 percent.
